What We Do

Like many other worker centers, the Washtenaw County Worker Center conducts work in three primary areas:

  • Organizing, Training, Leadership Development:  We provide organizing support to workers who need a place to come together and solve workplace problems such as issues related to pay, health and safety, and immigration status.  This area also includes training and rigCrossing Boarders Conference Participantshts promotion.
  • Advocacy:  We aim to promote policies at the local and state level that will advance the cause of low-wage workers.
  • Services:  We provide referrals to legal and other community resources. We have also created and help execute English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for local residents that involve teaching immigrants their rights as immigrants and in the workplace (see Community Resources page).

To see what specific projects the Washtenaw County Worker Center is working on right now, please view our ROC-MI, SIF Project, and Workshops pages.
